Food Security. No Problem.

Its time to build food resilience and security with Blue Terra Controlled Environment Agriculture Solutions.

It’s Time to Build Food Resilience and Security

We have become reliant on the supply of our food through mass agriculture producers, supply chains that extend for thousands of miles, over oceans, and from countries who utilize non sustainable farming methods.  Through this process, food has been engineered to withstand, drought stricken and nutrient depleted soil, has been picked prior to it being ripe for transportation or has been genetically modified to withstand damage from long haul shipping to our local supermarket.  Blue Terra wants to be a part of bringing back the local food producer, supporting the small farmer, reducing our carbon footprint because we choose to buy within 150km of us, but more over, consume nutrient rich and flavourful food once again. We continue to push to innovate and collaborate with new growing technologies to produce alternative food networks, as entrepreneurs and households seek to meet the growing demand for fresh food products.

Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) Modular Systems

Blue Terra has worked tirelessly to empower our clients to be able to be self sufficient and in control of their grown crops.  With the looming food shortage due to drought, fires, floods, in general Climate Change, we have collaborated with our partners such as TMBR Structures for the construction and design of our building envelopes as well as Harvest Today with respect to our Vertical Areoponic Growing System to provide a full turn key modular growing option.  Together we have created what we feel the container growing market has missed – more yield per sq/ft.

What is Controlled Environment Agriculture?

The basis of Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) is the growing of crops while controlling certain aspects of the environment to reduce pest or disease, increase efficiencies, be more sustainable, increase yield or save costs. At Blue Terra, we look at the environment and what can be controlled through automation including temperature, humidity, light, carbon dioxide, nutrients and more. Using technology and data, crops can be grown for food, nutraceutical, or pharmaceutical applications.

Retrofit your existing space – No Problem, Blue Terra can help.

Many of Blue Terra’s commercial tenant improvement projects begin with the decommissioning and deconstruction of the existing space, and others start with the realization that current facilities are operating with outdated farming technology.  We’ve helped clients transform their space to maximize productivity.  Whatever needs your tenant improvement/retrofit project may have, the team at Blue Terra is equipped with the knowledge, experience, and technology to get the job done.

Controlled Environment Agriculture is not one size fits all.

Blue Terra has spent countless hours testing hydroponic, and aeroponic systems and have found that for food production, there is no one size fits all.  Based off consultation with our clients, we will work to engineer a farming solution that fits with the intended yield outcome.  Different plants require different environments and media to productively grow, therefore we must understand what the end goal is for the client.

Blue Terra’s approach to indoor farming or CEA is to be able to provide purposeful solutions which will have a meaningful ROI on their investment.  We can provide a fully automated agriculture system to a semi-automated whereby the client takes ownership of the growing process.  Fully customizable options to support the indoor agriculture market are available.
